Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. Approximately 250 work in our local
community right now, alongside our staff members! Many of our staff started out as volunteers here.
Folks volunteer for a variety of reasons and programs:
- Regular volunteers who just want to share their time for the good of community, working as data entry clerks, board members, receptionists, neighborhood organizers and emergency responders to mention a few.
- Internships for college credit or work experience
- In-Kind volunteers who donate professional services
- Educational Community Service assignments through the schools
- Court-referred Community Service
These volunteers work to support all of our programs including
Information and Referral Program, Step Up, the Youth Resource Center, Mountain Neighbors’ Network and SLVCERT. They share their skills in jobs as diverse as event coordination, administration, executive board service and fundraising.
Do you want to volunteer? It’s easy! Just contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Liz Taylor-Selling to schedule an appointment. In that meeting, you will fill out an application, review the volunteer positions available and work together to find the one that fits your interests and skills. Then you will go through fingerprinting and be introduced to your staff liaison. You will go through a supportive training program and then you will join us in our work of helping people help themselves.
